Interview Practices
June 5 2026
Many interview processes reward confidence and preparation rather than capability. I prefer to understand how someone has handled real situations, what they learned from mistakes, and how they navigate uncertainty when there is no obvious answer.

I think overly theatrical interviews are mostly useless. Hypothetical trick questions, performative pressure tests, or asking people to sound perfect on command often tell you very little about how they actually work. They favor rehearsed confidence over judgment, reflection, and substance.
I prefer questions grounded in real behavior. Walk me through a difficult decision. Tell me about a deal you mishandled. Show me how you think when the answer is not obvious. In the most important roles, especially leadership roles, I care much more about pattern recognition, self-awareness, and operating maturity than I do about a polished interview performance.
